Focus Areas
Approach
Systemic coaching starts with the presenting issue and moves quickly beyond it.
Rather than remaining in problem analysis, we identify the structures, assumptions, and dynamics that shape decisions and performance and shift them toward viable solutions.
My work combines systemic methodology with visual thinking. Complex situations are mapped and reframed, creating new options for action.
We work across past, present, and future, clarifying what to retain, what to change, and what to build.
Change is developed within your system, where identity, responsibility, and action align.
Values
Growth. Foundations that support development and protect your energy.
Resilience. Not pushing harder, but building routines that stabilize and sustain.
Agency. Acting with intention. Seeing clearly and choosing deliberately.
Unfolding. New thinking becomes possible when nuance replaces extremes.

Grau is a systemic coaching practice founded and led by Monika Grabuschnigg.
I support individuals and teams working in demanding professional environments where clarity, orientation, and stability are critical. Systemic methodology is combined with structured visual thinking to expand perspective and strengthen decision-making.
I am a certified Systemic Business and Personal Coach (ECA) and a member of the Federal Association for Quality and Systemic Work. I also run an international visual art practice.
My artistic work is presented internationally, including exhibitions at institutions such as the Middelheim Museum in Antwerp and the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, as well as exhibitions in Dubai and New York. In 2018, I was awarded the Berlin Art Prize. Mentoring and teaching have long been part of my work, currently including teaching at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel.
My work as an artist is shaped by making visible what often remains in the background. Coaching is a deliberate extension of this approach. It combines systemic thinking with my experience in the arts: looking at connections differently, questioning habitual ways of seeing, and thereby gaining orientation, accessing new resources, and aligning action with intention.

Who does Grau work with?
Grau works with individuals, leaders, and teams in demanding professional contexts. Engagements take place on an individual basis or within organizational settings.
How does a collaboration begin?
Collaboration begins with a brief initial exchange, by email or phone, to clarify the focus and determine a suitable format.
In which formats does Grau work?
Coaching can take place in short-term or longer-term formats. Sessions are offered online, by phone, in Berlin, or on site within organizations.
What is meant by systemic coaching?
Systemic coaching treats clients as experts in their own context. The work focuses on relationships, decision-making spaces, and structural conditions, guided by concrete goals and pace.
How many sessions are planned?
The number of sessions is defined jointly. There are no fixed programs, only open and goal-oriented processes.
How is a session structured?
The standard format is 90 minutes. Extended sessions can be arranged if needed.
What happens if an appointment is canceled?
Appointments may be rescheduled. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the session cannot be refunded.
Is coaching suitable for every situation?
Coaching is not a substitute for therapeutic or medical treatment. Grau does not work with acute psychological crises. In such cases, professional medical or psychological support is required.
